The Process

What Daylighting Is

Daylighting is the controlled exposure of buried utilities — bringing pipes, cables, and conduit to "daylight" so they can be visually verified before further excavation proceeds.

OE crews use pressurised water to liquefy soil while a high-flow vacuum extracts the slurry — no mechanical tool ever contacts the asset.

Ontario regulatory note: Under O. Reg. 213/91, hydrovac daylighting meets the definition of an excavation, which means valid locates are required before work begins. OE manages this end-to-end, including Ontario One Call submissions.
