Pole hole excavation digs the hole a pole sits in — to exact depth and diameter — using pressurised water and a high-flow vacuum instead of a mechanical auger.
That distinction matters. In Ontario's congested corridors, the ground around a pole location is rarely empty: gas, electric, water, telecom, and fibre often run close by. A spinning auger can't tell the difference between soil and a buried line — and a strike means service outages, injury risk, and costly repairs.
